WHY DO I EXIST?
God's purposes for man in his creation give the first clues
to the correct answer to the question "Why do I exist?"
(a) We are here because God created the world,
and He created man to inhabit it (Gen. 1:26-28).
(b) Man was created to posses the earth. He was
to make the earth serve him. He was to rule all other creatures. He was to
cultivate God's creation (Gen. 1:28, 2:15; Ps. 104:14)
(c) He was intended to enjoy God's creation (Ps.
104:14,15)
(d) Man was created to know God; he was made
in God's image, and in this was uniqued amongst all of God's creatures (Gen.
1:27; Ps 8:5f)
(e) He was made to have fellowship with God (Gen.
3:9; Amos 4: 13)
(f) It was intended that he should find his highest
satisfaction in having God Himself as his friend (Ps.27:1,4)
(g) He was created to live in devoted dependence
upon God (Luke 10:27; Matt. 4:4)
(h) Man was created to do God's will, he was
to obey God, he was to live by faith and obedience (Gen.
2:15-17)
(i) He was made for God's pleasure, as was all
of God's creation (Heb. 2:10; Rev. 4:11; Gen. 1:31)
(j) Man was created with a capacity to enjoy
God for ever. Man is not merely a physical creature but has an eternal soul
(Mark 8:36)
WHAT IS SIN?
Sin is basically rebellion
against God. Arising from the corruption of the human heart, it is the cause
of our separation from God, and the reason for our deserving God's wrath.
Sin is man's greatest problem.
(a) SIN is doing wrong
(Dan. 9:5)
(b) SIN is acting wickedly, it is doing evil
in the sight of the Lord (Ps. 51:4)
(c) SIN is turning aside from God's commandments
and ordinances - what the Bible calls transgressions (Ps.
51: 1)
(d) SIN is falling short of God's glory (Rom.
3:23)
(e) SIN is ignoring God's Word as it has come
to us through the messengers He has provided (Dan. 9:6;
Heb. 3:13)
(f) SIN is lawlessness
(1 John 3:4)
(g) The essence of sin is to be against God
(Ps. 51:4)
WHY DID CHRIST
COME?

Old Testament Scriptures, Christ came into the world to save sinners by His

the way should be open for sinners to obtain a right relationship with God
and the gift of eternal life.

a right relationship with the Father. (Matt: 10:40;
Luke 10:16; John 13:20)

might be the way to god for us. (John 14:6)
(c) He came to proclaim the good news of peace
through the reconciliation by the Cross Eph. 2:17)
(d) He came to bring spiritual life to men. (John
5:40; 6:51; 58; 10:10, 20, 31; 1 John 4:9)

Him as the crucified and risen Messiah should possess eternal life (John
